Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby

"I don't want to sleep in my crib alone!"

So yesterday every chance I got I read pages from the Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby Book...for those of you that know me from the good old days -you must be pretty shocked by how many books I have read since finding out I was pregnant...me too! This book is guidelines for helping to teach your child to soothe them self and fall asleep without any props....aka The Crying It Out Method. This was a method that I swore I would never use...but Nick and I are to the point where if we don't do it for Jack, we need to do it for our sanity.
Last night was the first night and we put him down at 7:12 PM and he cried hysterically until 7:50 PM. I honestly think he would have been good to go the whole night but the monitor went off twice because he was so close to the crib rails that it couldn't detect him (we're going to change the sensitivity tonight). We had to go in and check on him (walking quickly this time for safety purposes) but it sucked because it would wake him and he'd have to cry it out again (not nearly as long as the initial cry though). This morning his crib sheet was covered in piles of dried tears and spit up which never happens :( We have continued the method today for naps in his crib (which he has never done, it's always the swing) and I just think it will take time....and a lot of eating and drinking to drown my sorrows while I listen to him cry.

If this method doesn't work we could always order these Zanky Infant Pillows to make him think we are holding him while he naps. They could easily be packed for when we travel too. Scary huh?!?!
Check out their website http://www.pregnancystore.com/zaky.htm It is for real!

In the past 2 days Jack must have discovered his bottom lip. He sucks on it non stop making the cutest little face but it is making his little chin raw.
Take a look at that hair today because on tomorrow's post he'll be stylin' and profilin' with his haircut.

Those hands are creepy! It's ironic I'm reading about sleep habits...I'm up at 3:30 waiting for Nathan fall asleep.
