The Easter Bunny CAME to town

Here is the Easter treats that Peter Cotton Tail (or Sunny thanks to the video we watched-The Easter Bunny is Coming to Town). Despite Da' Bunny due to shortages at the Bunny Factory...it was a huge success. Jack loved opening up all the eggs to get the candy out (which he ate for breakfast), the taste of the chocolate bunny, and the pairs of underwear that were stuffed inside of some eggs. Happy Belated Easter!

There was no plans for Easter lunch/dinner until I couldn't sleep Saturday night and saw some recipes on the Internet. Being pregnant it became a must even despite Market Street being closed...Angela came over and it was all delicious (and enough to eat off of all week).

The asparagus dish was my FAVORITE. For sure something I'll make again. Actually I think it sounds so good I'd love it now....too bad it is 11 on a school night!

Easter Weekend Parnell Playdate

Saturday before Easter Sunday the Relles and the Parnells got together for a much OVERDUE playdate.

The playdate started out with Jack sharing the candy from the Easter basket from GG and Mac. They thought this was great...
but it only got better when Ashley and I set up the egg dying station.
We were concerned about Ashley's cute maternity shirt getting dye on it so she borrowed Jack's paint smock....I think it fits perfect. Don't get mad Ashley-that would be my ass in the picture so we're both in bad view here.

This was about the most interest that the boys had in the egg dying. Oh well!

Who needs egg dying when you can race and have Wayne push you around?!

We took the boys in the front yard while the Dads hid the eggs. Jack is secretly hoping that Nathan keeps his train in his hand to slow down his hunt...

but this look of confusion was seen often train or no train....Nick and Wayne don't have much experience with children to know that you don't need to hide, hide the eggs-the boys needed much help finding them all.

Now for the loot...

Thanks Parnells for a fun afternoon outside in the beautiful weather. The food was tasty, the company was perfect, the nap was long, and we can't wait to hook up again.

Getting Ready for the Easter Bunny that CAME to Town

One weekend before Easter we boiled up some eggs and decided to do a little dying.
Nick had not used his grocery money wisely one day at Market Street and bought a dozen Cascarones. While waiting for the dye tablets to dissolve I thought it would be a fun game to crack one on Jack's head.

I didn't realize how loud it would be, how it might hurt him, and what a huge mess it would make.

Jack wasn't a big fan of this game.

But got over the Easter upset and enjoyed dying the eggs.

I enjoyed the egg dying but NOT the clean up for sure. Anyone want the other 11 confetti eggs?!?

Allen Circus

Spontaneously one Friday after school I sent Nick down the street to get us Circus tickets with a coupon we picked up along the way. The weather was a bit chilly and we were all tuckered out by the end of the show but I'm glad we went Friday because the winds on Saturday would not have been alright in that dirty tent.

Pretend Play

We got together with the McWilliams (in March-still playing catch up). Jack and Olivia were so cute engaging in pretend play.

Olivia was the Mommy with her purse and the baby while Jack was the Daddy preparing the birthday cake.

We bought the children's book, What to Expect When Mommy is Expecting. Reading it has been few and far between but one of the exercises was for Jack to wrap up in a blanket to see what he felt like (and the baby) in the womb...

Not sure if Nick was down with the program...

or that Jack conceptually understood....but we all got a good giggle out of it!

Orange Belt

Back in March Jack had a belt presentation in karate at Watters. He goes to karate Tuesday afternoons after their academic day when he is in the extended day program til we are able to pick him up.

There is a video below....the kids have to cross their foot, kick over the blocker, and if they touch it Mr. Sanders boops them with the blocker....they would squeal and run...so cute. Jack kept getting a bit confused on his stance, but did great with how high he was able to kick up his leg.

Jack has only been in karate since December. He is the youngest in his class. We have be grateful to know that on Tuesdays there is something that he looks forward to during his long afternoons at school. So proud our little karate kid earned his orange belt.

Big Boy Room

Crammed in somewhere during Spring Break between trips to LA and birthday party fun, Nick and I took some time while Jack was at school work around the house. High up on the list was to get Jack's big boy bedroom set up thanks to Papa and Bebe buying him his comforter and sheets for his birthday-Thanks Papa and Bebe!

Good thing Jack wasn't with us on this adventure to Sam's-and for the record...we had to move the car seat to the front to accommodate our purchases...he doesn't ride around in the front-but you guys know better than that we me!
And even more so than Jack not being with us on this adventure, good thing Nick is super skinny and was able to fit in the Pathfinder on the way home.

He fit better than the mattresses because the back door wouldn't shut all the way, but I drove super careful but mainly because I had my lap full of stuff and couldn't see a darn thing. Made it home safe and sound...although there were some stomach cramps from laughing so hard.

And all of it was worth it to see his face when he walked in and saw his own big boy bed with his new linens. We still need to do some accessorizing but this will more than likely wait til the summer when I think we are relocating him to the playroom so that the bigger closet can accommodate some of his toys and the baby will get his old room. He has done great in his big boy room with only one tumble but the marks went away in about a week.
