Our Mother's Day!

This post has entirely too many pictures and I know there is no way that one could feel my happiness through pictures...but I'm going to try just in case...

Mother's Day 2007

I don't think I need to put into words how much of a change we have gone through as a family this past year and what it means to us...the following pictures show it all...

Mother's Day 2008
Jack woke me up and helped me unwrap my Mother's Day presents. I have mixed feelings about the digital picture frame- I love it and think it will be perfect next year to keep updated pictures of my little man in my classroom, but makes me ache to think that I won't be around during the week to take pictures of him.
The other gift was "man made" by Nick. He knows how much it stresses me that I haven't been able to come close to finishing Jack's actual scrapbook so he did a one year book for me. Complete with journaling.
Jack had fun flipping through the pages and pointing to all the pictures. At least I know if I continue to slack Jack will have one book with actual pictures not printed from a blog...thanks Nick.
It's hard to get family pictures when it's just us in the family here in Texas...so the stretched out arm is the best that we can get.
Instead of breakfast in bed this year we headed to a local french bakery (the owners and staff are all from France) for breakfast. Jack loved his first croissant. It made me, like most things, want to go overseas again...Marie...you up for visitors?!?
Since we ate out for breakfast and the weather was PERFECT we decided on a simple picnic in the backyard. Jack is so good about sharing his food with others (and feeding it to them too).
The life of Jack... My heart in a picture!
Don't be too fooled by this picture...this was after redirecting him to not stand on the chair about a million times. Next time we're outside we'll probably have to start at redirect number 1 again.
Jack spent a lot of time picking "flowers (aka: weeds) for me.
And bringing them to me.
Then even though it was a little chilly outside we gave in (OK- we really wanted him try it out-he could have had just as much fun in a dry pool) and put water in his new pool.
Our little fish with blue and chattering lips.

To stay active and warm Jack and Nick ran in and out of the sprinkler.
Jack must have been confused...it is Mother's Day...not your birthday....take off that birthday suit silly boy...gotta love a tiny hiny!
Shout out to Miley for Jack's onsie from the House of Blues...It fit perfect for today!
Dinner again on the patio.
What a perfect day with my boys!

Playing with Food

I'd say Jack and I have slowed down towards the end of this week...but that would be a lie. Friday was Gymboree as usual and today we had lunch and played with some friends at the mall.
Here is Jack looking around and planning how he can get all of my attention and give me a good work out.
First off the grapefruit which he climbed up on and proceeded to walk straight off the other end, getting his foot caught on the plate, and flipping over on to his head. I ran as fast as I could but wasn't able to catch him. No worries though-he was up and unfazed by the fall.
He might have been unfazed and wasn't slowing down in the least...but I was a nervous neely from that point on. I followed behind him like a shadow because he wasn't paying attention at all to big kids nearly trampling him or the edges of the food he was climbing on.
The Moms from our group are sitting there on the floor....not me because my little boy likes adventures.
Here are the kiddos (Emily, Jack, Sydney, Nathan, & Ethan). This was the only way to get them altogether. Lunch was nice, the play area was...exhausting, and I can't wait til we get together again!

Owens Farm

Today Ashley invited Jack and I to join her friends for a trip to Owens Farm (yep-the sausage people) in Richardson. It was another beautiful day and everyone had a blast.
Here is the group of kiddos (and Marla).
Jack and I started out feeding the goats together in the petting zoo.

The goats were a bit aggressive and were able to pull the cup of feed right out of my hand. After Jack saw them attack our cup he knew to keep a safe distance.

After the incident with the big goats Jack and I decided we should stick to the sweet baby goats instead. Seeing that the baby goats were a lot nicer Jack decided to be brave and give feeding them a try alone.
"I don't know little goat...I think babies are supposed to eat mashed up foods. But I'll go ahead and give it to you since you are being polite!"
"Oh, I get it...here baby goat, baby goat."
"Slow down...you're eating to fast and kinda getting a bit too pushy for me."
"Hey you...step back...this is my baby goat!"

"All gone little man....let's go see if we can find you some more."
The farm also had other animals like horses, turkeys, and donkeys that the kids enjoyed looking at.
The best part of the trip to Owens Farm was the hay ride. This was Jack's first hay ride! At first he was a little unsure...but by the end he was standing up and looking out at the beautiful view of the farm while enjoying the ride.
I love my Little Farmer Jack!
The group again before heading out to lunch. Spending the morning at the farm sure does work up an appetite.

Lunch was tasty and then it was back home to dream about our trip to Owens Farm.

Rough Riders

Tina, her husband Rob, and Jack's friend Luke invited us to join them in Frisco, TX to see the Rough Riders play. The weather wasn't cooperating with us and with kids and lawn tickets we held off til last minute before deciding if we were up for the challenge-I'm sure glad we were. It was my first time to see the Rough Riders play and Jack's first baseball game. Our ticket got you into the game, a hot dog, and a Rough Riders baseball cap!
We borrowed one of their hats so both Jack and I could wear them for the picture....why did we bother? Thanks guys for letting us join you for such a great time. Can't wait to do it again soon!
The boys snacked during the game on various foods us Moms had packed...one of which was called Pirate Booty...that's right....and it is tasty and healthy. Can't wait to go get some for Jack to have at home...he ate most of Luke's. But as you can see....paid him back by sharing his Cheerios.
Jack was so serious about feeding each Cheerio to Luke.
Aren't friends great?!?
Rob attempted to get a group shot but I think Jack and Luke were too interested in their Cheerios to say cheese.
Not long after the Cheerios were gone Jack was starting to venture away from me more and more so I knew it was time to head back to the car and get home to our nap. Once we got home I had to rush to get ready so I could head out to Girl's Night Out which is why I am ending this now and joining Jack in his afternoon nap. Thanks again Tina, Rob, and Luke!
