Wonderful Weekend-Just Not Long Enough

Friday was not so good for me...my first official break down late that night while working in my room (can't believe it took that long). I did get to see Jack for a bit when he came up to school but I didn't get home from work til after 10:15 and had to wake up early Saturday to see the Gastro Doctor. Had a nice Saturday having lunch, visiting the Vaughans, resting, and then grilling out with Angela (Jack's best friend for the day). The McWilliams called to see if we were up for a Sunday morning trip to the Dallas Zoo since the weather has been nice in the mornings...of course we said yes...the Relle Clan is always up for an outing.

So at 8:30 Sunday morning we loaded the Relles and the McWilliams into the Pathfinder and headed Downtown.

Jack and Olivia probably would have been happy just hanging out in the parking lot.
The Relle Clan
Taking one for the team-all in the name of the children-anything to get my boy to let me hold him...Worth every bit of the bird flu I probably contracted. Here we are feeding the bird from the seed stick. Jack wasn't too sure about this event.
Neither was Olivia.
Boys, Babies, and Birds.
Jack and Nick feeding the birds.
Jack is telling Olivia to watch out. This bird had vulture in it's name and nibbled pretty hard on Karen. Our little man protecting his little lady...how cute!
Jack decided that this exhibit was for the birds...climbing on the rocks was more fun while he waited for Olivia to finish up her bird adventures.
"Here piggy, piggy!"
And again...this exhibit is not nearly as fun as the rocks beside it.
Jack wasn't too much into the bunnies (guess he sees enough in the backyard) and he for sure wasn't into petting the guinea pig...guess he has seen the scar I have from Harley and wasn't going to risk loosing a finger. Oh well..maybe next time...just think of the germs he avoided.
Our little cowboy had his first pony ride. He didn't smile or squeal but did really good for having to walk away from us, with strangers, on a pony.
"Wait Olivia, I'm supposed to be riding off into the sunset with you...Wait up!!!"
After the children's zoo we decided to speed up the process by gearing up with the babies on back to check out the other animals.
After such a busy morning we had all worked up a HUGE appetite.
One last exhibit before heading back to the country was to check out Stingray Bay. The kids got to pet real sting rays!
Jack was a bit unsure but did enjoy watching them. No worries...they had been de-stingered. The music and all made me feel like we were in the Caymans...OK...back to reality.
But really we could have saved the Stingray money and just let the kids play in the dirt because they had way more fun doing that than petting the sting rays.
Here we are before heading to the car. What a great day at the Dallas Zoo...What are we doing next weekend? (I look like I have something shoved up my @## and Jack looks unhappy as can be...it really was a great day...I promise)
Just for laughs. Karen sat in-between the kids and did crazy songs while feeding them to keep them up on the drive home. Didn't want a cat nap to mess up a good, long afternoon nap we earned from wearing them out at the Zoo.

A Day In Jack's New Life

We sent the camera with Jack two days last week to Watters so Mrs. D could take some pictures of Jack in action. I hate not knowing the kids in his class, how his day runs, and just really didn't believe that he napped on a cot. Here is a little montage of the pictures that she took...looks like he does nap on the cot...amazing. Appreciate her doing this for us...nice to see a glimpse of what my little man's day looks like.

There is music...nothing special...a little calming classical. Click the link below to few the pictures.

We did have a nice weekend with a relaxing Saturday and an exciting Sunday (involved a trip to the Dallas Zoo)-just not long enough- but it is 11:20 and I have to get to sleep...I'll try to upload weekend pictures sometime this week.

Quality Time

You are about to get an up close view of Jack and I's weekday quality time so far since returning to work. Take your time...there aren't many pictures here since, well...we don't have much time together.

"I don't want to wake up. Can't we just go back to how things used to be?"
Breakfast together in the kitchen while Nick showers. No time for visiting...we are always in a rush.
Finishing breakfast while helping Mom get ready since she leaves before the boys. Can't stay in the kitchen to finish the banana because Dad has to get ready too.
Oh...look at the time. Just got picked up by Dad. Up at school to see Mommy because she might not make it home for dinner and bedtime.
Gotta get the locker fix and make a mess in Mom's room (which she doesn't mind because hey...she gets to see Jack)
Yet again up at school to see Mom because she won't make it home for dinner and bedtime...and this is a Friday...isn't that the weekend? Don't mind my outfit...Mom and Dad are so drained they didn't send an emergency shirt to go with the emergency shorts...got paint on the nice outfit so had to borrow random onsie from a classmate.
If we are lucky...once a week we get dinner, a little playtime, milk, and bed together...

Wordless Wednesday-Masterpieces

I have seen a few mommy blogs where on Wednesdays they only post a picture...Wordless Wednesday. Since we don't get to spend much time with Jack during the week, nor do I have much time to update the blog- I thought I would give it a try to just post a picture on Wednesdays to give you guys your Jack fix til the next weekend. Some pictures might be older ones that have never been posted, or new random ones from the week.

But since I was writing and couldn't really declare this a wordless Wednesday I thought I would go ahead and take the time to upload some of Jack's recent work from Watters. And as you will see in the first picture his artists abilities have been carried home...and are vividly shown on the new floors.

So glad that everyone made it through Gustav unharmed. Yes material things will need to be cleaned and repaired...but everyone is safe and that is the most important. Our doors are open for those in Baton Rouge....when you can't bear the heat anymore...we're here for ya!
