McGowen Trunk or Treat

Tonight was McGowen's Trunk or Treat. We picked Jack up from Watter's, grabbed a quick bite, and headed up to McGowen to decorate the First Grade car/get him into his costume/and have some FUN!

I mean....isn't he is cutest cowboy ever?!?
During the costume and pumpkin carving contest we headed outside so Jack could Trunk or Treat before the crowds made their way out...great idea because it was packed soon there after. PS-He looks tired because he didn't nap well at Watters...poor baby was zoned by the time we left.
"Follow me to the fun!"

"Trick, I mean Trunk or Treat!"

Mommy and her lil cowpoke. BTW- This weekend he officially, FINALLY started saying MaMa....I LOVE IT!!!
On to more cars...

At the last car, which was decorated like a graveyard, Willow and the Sullivan's showed up. How cute are they?!?

Check out the sky...crazy looking huh?!? It was a perfect night for family fun...bouncehouse and all...which we didn't partake in.

Here was the First Grade trunk. Can you guess which spider was for my class?!?

That's right...the one with the LSU sign. A Mom came in last week and made it for us...she is a Tiger fan too so the sign was a no brainer when she was creating our class spider.

Hard to see here...but the fire truck and ambulance came so the kids could explore them (although after they came Monday for real we were all a bit confused if it was part of Trunk or Treat or another false alarm). Jack even got a badge from one of the Fire Fighters.

It was getting close to Jack's bedtime so we stopped by the administration trunk to make sure they saw us (for our jean passes of course-I get Nick's since he wears even more comfy clothes everyday-SCORE!), bought some freshly popped popcorn from the concession stand, and headed home. It didn't take long for Jack to get out his cowboy gear and hit the sack.

You'll be seeing him in his costume a bunch...Friday is his school party, Friday night we are Trick or Treating with the McWilliams, and Saturday after our holiday pictures we are heading to a Halloween party...getting our money's worth for sure!

Laying Low

With the exception on a quick trip to Sam's and Target we followed our plan of staying at home for the weekend to rest up. It was hard since the weather was perfect, but lots of naps helped to pass the time spent indoors.

Jack woke up from his afternoon nap soon after the Tigers started to play. He became obsessed with one of the LSU commercials and kept begging for more. During other commercials we would rewind and play it for him. He was too cute roaring when the tiger was on the screen and marching to the sound of the band.

Then it was time to chant Go Tigers with Dad (popcorn bowl and sippie of milk in lap of course).

And despite the loose they were able to clap a few times too.

And on a random note...I was cleaning out Jack's folder of work from this past week and snapped a few pictures of his masterpieces. Some get tossed, some go on the fridge, others to work, and some are set aside to be shipped to the grandparents for their fridge. He is so talented isn't he?!?!

Glimpses into Jack's Life

We had to cancel our trip to see the Tigers play this weekend because...well, we are worn out. Too much all the time led Jack and I to be under the weather, the Relle Clan as a whole exhausted, and the house/life is a disaster. We decided it best to rest up this weekend (Papa gave strict instructions to be in pj's til Monday morning-so far, so good) so we are ready for the Bama game in 2 weeks.

Thought I would share the link to Watters again because the owner has been uploading pictures to the site. They are Smilebox slide shows so you are kinda stuck watching it all in search for a glimpse of Jack (kinda like Where's Waldo), but I have found if you click on the picture while it is playing the next one pulls up faster (or at least I feel like it does and my pushing the button made it happen). He is in the following slide shows (some were from the Summer when he wasn't there): Dora the Explorer, Around the World, Grandparents Day, Presentations OC, and Scarecrow.

Neat to see a glimpse of Jack's life at Watters.

State Fair 2008

After multiple plans to take advantage of our FREE teacher tickets to the State Fair Sunday morning we finally made it. Although I wish that my gall-funk wasn't acting up and that Jack wasn't cranky from the canine that is breaking through his top gums...but we had GREAT weather, nice Fair going company, and overall a fabulous time.

Here we were in the parking lot getting lubed up with sun protection.
The McWilliam's making sure that they have all the gear that they might need.
"I'm about to meet Big Tex. Hurry up parents-don't you have everything yet?!?"
"This is Big Tex...he is huge, funny looking, loud...and scary!"
It was hard to get this picture so close to Big Tex...Jack kept looking back and up crying. Again...Halloween is going to be interesting....we might have to keep Jack far from any costume gatherings.
He wasn't big on the Ergo so we had to resort to shoulders, holding him, and when there were breaks in the crowds letting him walk since he is heavy after awhile.
There was an area with caged animals that Jack and Olivia had fun pointing to through the mesh.
Jack was enjoying looking at the animals, making their sounds, and trying to say their name (although everything was a duck-I think he has troubles getting the Wub Duck out of his mind..who would have thought it would ever be a duck obsession and not a frog).
Inside that building was a really cool petting zoo. We bought some feed and were all excited for Jack to pet and feed the animals.
But he was not having any of it...if you walked close to an animal he started crying and would bury his face in your neck....what is up with that?!?!? This is the boy that loves the zoo and enjoyed the zebras sticking their heads in the Jetta. But if you notice that hand in the mouth (which is where it was all day) I think he was just out of sorts with the teething and maybe we are having a little stranger danger thing right now.

While waiting for the McWilliam's we were able to get him close to the baby pigs. He even reached in to pet one.
Before giving our feed to Olivia he was willing to let us feed some to the baby goats. Maybe it is a big animal fear he has going on?!?
Again back at the pigs he was willing to walk away from us and look at them with Karen and Olivia.
And this big bird was very interesting to him. We kept telling him it was Papa but he didn't get it (Dad's nickname from Papa Joe was Turkey). I thought about telling him it was what we were going to be eating for Thanksgiving but figured he is already on edge-I won't push him over.
After lunch-sandwich meat and cheese for Jack, corn dogs and Potato Twisters for Dad (which Jack tasted of course), and nibbles here and there for me (darn gall-funk) Jack had fun running around by the Hands On Farm Event by the picnic tables (the line was long and they were too young...it looked so fun...maybe next time).

Jack has been on a walking (not flying him up...don't want to do it even once because he will want more and it is dangerous-hint, hint to family and friends) with two people holding his hands lately. Nick had one hand and he wanted Olivia to hold his other...but she wanted nothing to do with it.
After lunch and walking around it was of course time for dessert. Nick had a frozen fruit punch but I think that Olivia and Jack ate most of it. Everyone (except me) nibbled on Karen's fried apple pie bites and Aaron's funnel cake. The kiddos were both exhausted and on a sugar high.
On the way out we planned to let them play the duck game (I had even bought tickets for it) to find out that you had to have a "game card" to play games and tickets were only for food and rides...so no duck and we covered the cost for Karen and I to take the kids on the Merry Go Round. It was fun and SUPER fast.
My dessert was some pink cotton candy. Jack wasn't too sure about it. I think we will try it again tomorrow because by the time he tasted it-he was done.
Here is Jack literally when we pulled out the parking lot (the light in the back window)...and when we got home we all slept for 3 hours! What a great day.

One more week til Tiger Football live in action for us!!!

Superstore

Friday- Jack and Nick came up to help in my room before we took the Jetta to get a new headlight and it's 80,000 mile check up (which I'll just add $2,300 later we are now driving around in Nick's big boy TV...this TV is pretty multi purpose huh...hot water heater, car, wonder what is next). By the time we had some Ali Baba and headed home it was time for bath and bed. Saturday morning we headed out early to check out the new Babies R Us and Toys R Us Superstore. It is both stores under one roof. They didn't have the best sales ever for their grand opening but we are so excited about no longer having to make the long drive to the Plano location. We are really building up here in Allen. We also managed to find him a great blanket for Watters when it starts to get cooler and a mattress pad that is super thick for the Pack and Play this weekend at Papa and Bebe's.
They had characters for the kids since it was their Grand Opening...Jack was NOT a fan of Spiderman. Even with Nick shaking his hand he wanted nothing to do with it. On the way out Spiderman was across the store and Jack broke into tears. Yikes...I think Halloween is going to be rough for our little man.
There was a face painter so we decided to do a simple LSU.
She was not very talented and he kept touching it so it didn't last more than 2 isles before we wiped it off.
Here is was for the 2 minutes it was on his face. This weekend we are packing the Temporary Tattoos that Uncle Brian gave him last year. They should work better for him. His new LSU shirt from Bebe was too cute too....GEAUX TIGERS!

Packages Galore

When we got home from Watters Open House there were 3 packages waiting for us at the house.
Jack was determined to move the big package into the house. It is the Uppercase Living stuff....I can't wait to get it all up.
There were two smaller packages in the mailbox. Jack loves mail!
Especially when it is for him and is full of Halloween Candy from my friend Amy in California. He had his first Skittle and LOVED it.
The next package was from Gramps and Nana. It was a cute Turtle book to help cheer him up from his funk last week.
It took a bit of practice to get how the turtle opened and closed it's mouth.
Which always makes success so nice.
He loved his book and showing Nick and I over and over how he could making the turtle "talk" by himself.

Package Fun

Jack got another package in the mail the other day from Papa and Bebe. After his bath and getting dressed for bed we let him open it up.
"Wonder if there are any Teddy Grahams in here?"
"Packed pretty tight in here."
"Cool LSU shirt...I can wear it on Saturday when the Tigers redeem themselves."
"What's else is in here? I love packages!"
"I'm going to do this the fast way..no more one thing at a time. I'm too excited!"
"Look at all the Halloween loot."
"Was there ever a question on where the beautiful eyes came from? If so...here is the answer."
"This is going to be great with my Halloween Costume...and all the way from the Canyon...I've heard about that place...were Mommy's toenails there?"

"Cling Ons are great...kinda frustrating that they don't stick on everything."
"Let's put them on all the windows."
"These look like the ones from the pumpkin patch."
"Mom always talks about pumpkin pie...wonder if this pumpkin is as tasty as the pie she moans about wanting all the time."
"Oops...not for eating and not for squishing."
