WARNING: Not for those with a weak stomach

We headed out as usual after lunch on Sunday headed for home in Texas. Jack was asleep before we even left the neighborhood. He slept for a long time and only woke when we stopped at a Burger King to use the restroom. He was quickly asleep again which just isn't like him and when I felt him he was super warm...but thought it must have just been the plush car seat cover....nope, Jack had so much fun over the holidays in Louisiana he made himself sick.

In Shreveport we were grateful for the Wal-Mart car seat cover that was an impulse purchase one trip with Jack and I last year. We travel with it since there is so much eating and drinking along the way. Well in Shreveport we stopped for dinner to realize Jack had a major blow out (one of few in his life) that soaked through the diaper, his clothes, and on to the car seat. Nick cleaned him up and took off the car seat cover so we could enjoy a nice dinner.

Around Tyler Jack was getting fussy and grabbing at his ear. I got into the back with him to drink his milk and watch Mamma Mia when all of a sudden he started throwing up all over himself and the car seat. If only his blanket was still on him that he just kicked off. We pulled over on the Interstate til it slowed down then headed for a gas station. There wasn't much I could do til we found one other than hold his hand, tell him it was going to be alright, and of course-take a picture.

Poor baby was in a diaper, barefoot on the dirty ground at the pump just crying away. The temperature was below 40 degrees and the only clothes we could get to were shorts. So while Nick cleaned the car seat the best he could and flipped the once removed dirty car seat cover inside out Jack and I roamed the Texas Smokehouse gas station...very nice and added to our list of places to stop to rest/fuel up in the future.

Back on the road the tire light came on and at that point...why not....the car wasn't loaded with 8 tons of holiday gifts, the baby wasn't sick, and it surely didn't smell of poop and vomit in the car on this cold night. Luckily it was a malfunction with the tire pressure system (or so we think) and we made it home.

Jack has sense visited the pediatrician which confirmed another ear infection (making 3 since Thanksgiving) so we also took a trip to the ENT and have decided it best with it being Winter for Jack to get tubes. Since I too was visiting doctor's to figure out my stomach issues we will do a bit of research and hopefully get it scheduled by the end of the week.

Needless to say...I think we need some time to get over this road trip before planning our next drive in town.

Poor thing! It is scary to walk the road to tubes but they were life changing for us. Hope they are as big of a miracle for Jack and they were for Sean. Hugs.
